Varuna is for sale

After 18 great years of cruising in Varuna, we are moving on to other adventures.
Robert Perry designed full keel cruiser with raised salon. The Islander 41 is built like a tank, but still sails well, especially in heavier air.
Her accomodations are excellent, even for a small family. Forward Cabin w/ V-berths and hanging locker & drawer storage w/ enclosed head to starboard. Aft Cabin w/ QUEEN berth, hanging lockers to port and enclosed head compartment.
Six cylinder Nissan/Chrysler diesel (80HP) gives you plenty of power, and great range coupled with her 200 gal fuel tank and 200 gallon water tank. ONAN 3KW genset, Full Galley, Sail Inventory; headsail furler, main, Mizzen, staysail.
Canvas Bimini top and dodger. There is too much information to list here.
She is currently located at Kingston, Ontario and will be In Montreal for the winter lay-up.
Just put on your provisions and "live the dream"

Miami- Nassau

Feb 2-07

Weather window finally appeared, We left Miami early on Friday and were in Nassau by 10:00 am Sat.

Spent one day clearing in and getting local supplies (rum) and left the follow morning for a beautiful sail down to Norman's cay in the Exuma Islands.

The fastest crossing we have done to date.

You can notice the effect of the gulf-stream on our track. I headed south of my intended course and around the middle of the stream, the current carried me to my destination.

Miami

Jan 27/07

South Beach, Miami

At anchor in a great protected area (see chart) just a short dinghy ride to where the action is.

From my cockpit, I see the cruise ships come and go, the homes of the rich and infamous, and we are now about 20 boats that have assembled and are awaiting the famous “weather window” to cross the gulf stream.

So far, Chris Parker, the weather guru, does not anticipate anything in the next few days, so we are doing the tourist bit.

Pics enclosed of the beautiful art deco buildings.

BTW, from my vantage point, I count 10 hi-rise buildings going up. This place is not suffering! It is a boom town.
